How do I target a US city or ZIP code?
You target a US city or ZIP code by adding segments to your proxy username. The full StatesideIP format is USERNAME-country-{cc}-state-{state}-city-{city}-zip-{zip}-asn-{asn}-session-{id}-ttl-{minutes}; use only the segments you need.
USERNAME-country-us-state-ny-city-new_york-zip-10001— Chelsea and Hudson Yards, Manhattan.USERNAME-country-us-state-il-city-chicago-zip-60614— Lincoln Park, Chicago.USERNAME-country-us-state-tx-city-houston-zip-77006— Montrose, Houston.USERNAME-country-us-state-fl-city-miami-zip-33131— Brickell, Miami.USERNAME-country-us-state-wa-city-seattle— any Seattle IP, rotating per request.
City names are lowercase, with underscores for spaces. ZIP codes keep all five digits, including a leading zero, as in zip-02116 for Back Bay, Boston. Keep the state and city consistent with the ZIP.
How do I test a ZIP code IP with curl and Python?
Send one request through the gateway and print the exit IP. Then check that IP in the geolocation service your target uses, if you know it. Respect robots.txt and each site's terms when you move to real targets.
# Rotating IP in ZIP 10001 (Manhattan) over HTTP
curl -x http://gw.statesideip.com:7777 \
-U "USERNAME-country-us-state-ny-city-new_york-zip-10001:PASSWORD" \
"https://api.ipify.org?format=json"
# Same ZIP, one IP kept for 10 minutes, over SOCKS5
curl --socks5-hostname gw.statesideip.com:7778 \
-U "USERNAME-country-us-state-ny-city-new_york-zip-10001-session-zip1-ttl-10:PASSWORD" \
"https://api.ipify.org?format=json"import requests
HOST = "gw.statesideip.com"
PORT = 7777
# ZIP code -> matching state and city segments
zips = {
"10001": "country-us-state-ny-city-new_york",
"60614": "country-us-state-il-city-chicago",
"33131": "country-us-state-fl-city-miami",
}
for zip_code, place in zips.items():
user = f"USERNAME-{place}-zip-{zip_code}"
proxy = f"http://{user}:PASSWORD@{HOST}:{PORT}"
r = requests.get(
"https://api.ipify.org?format=json",
proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy},
timeout=30,
)
print(zip_code, r.json()["ip"])How precise is ZIP code targeting?
ZIP code targeting is approximate: each website places an IP with its own geolocation database, and databases differ. An IP that StatesideIP assigns to ZIP 10001 may show as a nearby ZIP, or only as "New York", in some databases. A narrow ZIP also has fewer home IPs online at any moment than a whole city or state.
- Test the target page itself, not only a lookup tool.
- Widen to the city or state segment if a ZIP returns errors.
- Compare a ZIP-level result with a city-level one before you scale.
Which providers include ZIP code targeting, and at what price?
ZIP targeting is less common than city targeting. Proxyway's 2026 market research found ZIP targeting at 5 of the 13 providers it studied, while all 13 offered city targeting. Where ZIP targeting exists, the price model differs, as of October 2026:
- SOAX includes ZIP and ASN targeting only on its Scale plan ($1,500 per month + VAT) and Enterprise plan ($3,000 per month + VAT).
- DataImpulse lists $1 per GB, with state, city, ZIP and ASN targeting "offered for a small extra fee".
- Bright Data's Residential network requires company KYC for zones created after July 7, 2026.
- StatesideIP includes city and ZIP targeting from the 1 GB plan at $1.50.
From 5 to 10 GB, StatesideIP residential traffic costs $0.75/GB, 25% below DataImpulse's $1/GB list price. Targeting is included, while DataImpulse charges a small extra fee for it (checked 2026-10-05). All tiers are on the pricing page.

What can I do with ZIP-level US IPs?
ZIP-level US IPs show what a page looks like to people in one neighborhood. Common legitimate uses:
- Local SEO: check Google results and the map pack from
zip-11211in Williamsburg, not a national average. See local SEO rank tracking. - Price and stock checks: record public prices and delivery dates that change by ZIP code. See e-commerce price monitoring.
- Ad checks: confirm that a campaign aimed at a ZIP radius shows the right creative. See ad verification.
City and ZIP code targeting: frequently asked questions
Does ZIP code targeting cost extra at StatesideIP?
No. ZIP code targeting is included on every StatesideIP residential plan, as of October 2026. Prices run from $1.50 for 1 GB down to $0.52/GB on the 1 TB (1,000 GB) plan, and you pay only for traffic. By contrast, DataImpulse charges "a small extra fee" for ZIP targeting, and SOAX keeps it for plans from $1,500 per month.
Can I target any US ZIP code?
You can request any five-digit US ZIP code. Small or rural ZIP codes may have few or no residential IPs online at a given moment. StatesideIP covers all 50 US states and Washington, D.C. at state level. If a ZIP returns errors, widen to the city or state segment and try again.
How do I keep the same ZIP code IP for several minutes?
Add a session ID and a duration to the username. For example, USERNAME-country-us-zip-33131-session-shop1-ttl-15 keeps one Brickell, Miami IP for 15 minutes. Sticky sessions last 1 to 120 minutes, set per session with the ttl parameter. A home IP can still go offline early, so retry with a new session ID if it drops.
Can I combine ZIP and ASN targeting?
Yes, the username format accepts both segments. For example, USERNAME-country-us-zip-10001-asn-12271 asks for Charter's New York City network in ZIP 10001. Combining filters narrows the pool, so expect fewer IPs and test before scaling. The ASN targeting page lists US ISP networks and their AS numbers.
Can I buy ZIP-targeted proxies without KYC?
Yes. StatesideIP sells ZIP-targeted US residential proxies with no ID, no selfie and no documents. Account-number login; email is optional. Pay in BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, LTC or SOL. SOAX, by contrast, applies Sumsub verification when you choose to pay with cryptocurrency.
Does ZIP targeting work for Canadian postal codes?
No. ZIP targeting covers five-digit US ZIP codes only. In Canada, StatesideIP targets by province, city and ASN instead, in all 10 Canadian provinces. Use country-ca-state-on-city-toronto for Toronto or country-ca-state-bc-city-vancouver for Vancouver. The Canada residential proxies page lists Canadian cities and ISPs.
Is it legal to collect prices with ZIP-targeted proxies?
Collecting public prices with a proxy is generally legal in the US, but site terms, anti-hacking law and anti-spam law still apply. Keep request rates reasonable, respect robots.txt and stay out of areas you are not allowed to use. StatesideIP blocks banking, government and payment portals. This is not legal advice.
Why does my ZIP IP show a different city in a lookup tool?
Geolocation databases disagree, especially below city level. The same IP can sit in the right ZIP in one database and in a nearby suburb in another. Check the location with the database your target uses, if you know it, or test the target page itself. If results stay wrong, rotate to a new IP in the same ZIP.
