How to Rotate the IP on a US 4G/5G Mobile Proxy

Change the IP of a dedicated T-Mobile, AT&T or Verizon port on demand or on a timer, confirm the new IP, and handle the reconnection in your code.

Quick answer

How do I rotate the IP on a US mobile proxy?

To rotate the IP on a StatesideIP US mobile proxy, call the port's rotation link or API. On a 7-day or 30-day port, you can also set a timer. The modem reconnects to T-Mobile, AT&T or Verizon, and the carrier assigns a new IP. Dedicated ports cost from $3.75/day, as of October 2026. No KYC — no ID, no selfie, no documents. Pay in crypto.

How does IP rotation work on a dedicated mobile port?

A rotation tells the modem behind your port to drop its mobile data connection and reconnect. The carrier then assigns an address from its own pool, which is usually a new one. During the reconnection, requests through the port fail or wait, so pause your traffic. The port, username and password stay the same; only the exit IP changes.

Carriers share public IPv4 addresses between many phones through carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT). The new IP may therefore also carry traffic from ordinary phone users on that network. Your modem itself is never shared: Unlimited data on a dedicated port (fair use: one customer per modem, no resale).

Send one GET request to your port's rotation URL: https://statesideip.com/api/v1/mobile/{port}/rotate?key=API_KEY. Replace {port} with your port number and API_KEY with the key from your dashboard. Keep the key private, because anyone with the full link can rotate your port.

curl: rotate, then print the new exit IP
# Values from your dashboard
PORT="YOUR_PORT"
KEY="API_KEY"

# Build the rotation URL from the documented format
URL=$(printf '%s' "https://statesideip.com/api/v1/mobile/{port}/rotate?key=API_KEY" | sed -e "s/{port}/$PORT/" -e "s/API_KEY/$KEY/")

# 1) Ask the modem for a new IP (direct call, not through the proxy)
curl -s "$URL"

# 2) After the reconnection, print the exit IP through the port
curl -s -x "http://USERNAME:[email protected]:$PORT" \
  "https://api.ipify.org?format=json"
Python: rotate, wait for the reconnection, confirm the change
import time
import requests

HOST = "gw.statesideip.com" # use the host shown for your port
PORT = "YOUR_PORT" # dedicated port number from the dashboard
KEY = "API_KEY" # API key from the dashboard
PROXY = f"http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@{HOST}:{PORT}"
PROXIES = {"http": PROXY, "https": PROXY}
ROTATE_URL = "https://statesideip.com/api/v1/mobile/{port}/rotate?key=API_KEY".replace("{port}", PORT).replace("API_KEY", KEY)

def current_ip():
    r = requests.get("https://api.ipify.org?format=json", proxies=PROXIES, timeout=15)
    return r.json()["ip"]

def rotate(max_wait=90):
    old_ip = current_ip()
    requests.get(ROTATE_URL, timeout=15) # direct call, not through the proxy
    deadline = time.time() + max_wait      # limit for this script, not a promised time

            return old_ip, new_ip
    raise TimeoutError("IP did not change: rotate again or check the port")

How do I rotate the IP automatically on a timer?

Set a rotation timer on a 7-day or 30-day port, and the IP changes on schedule with no code. New IP on demand through a rotation link or API call, or automatically on a timer you set (minimum 2 minutes). Choose the interval from the job. Account work for a client brand needs a long interval, while checks across many IPs can use a shorter one. A rotation in the middle of a request breaks it, so add retries or use the API instead.

How do I check that the IP really changed?

Request an IP-echo service through the port before and after the rotation, and compare the two addresses. https://api.ipify.org?format=json returns only your exit IP, as JSON. Carriers sometimes hand back the same address, so rotate again if it did not change.

You can also look up the network of any IP in RIPEstat. For reference, T-Mobile USA announces AS21928, AT&T Mobility AS20057, and Verizon (Cellco) AS22394 and AS6167.

How long should I wait after a rotation?

Wait until an IP check through the port succeeds with a new address, not for a fixed delay. Reconnection time depends on the carrier, the signal at the modem and network load. For that reason, StatesideIP does not promise a fixed number of seconds. Poll every few seconds with a time limit, as the Python example does, and pause your job until the check passes.

Which carrier should I pick for rotation?

Pick the carrier your audience uses; rotation works the same way on all three US carriers. Network test results differ, as of October 2026:

  • T-Mobile: 12 Opensignal awards in its January 2026 report. Ookla named it the best and fastest US mobile network for H1 2026. T-Mobile US runs an IPv6-only network using 464XLAT.
  • Verizon: 3 Opensignal awards, including 5G Video. Ookla named it the best network for coverage.
  • AT&T: 1 Opensignal award, and the highest time on network at 99.6%.

Rotating a mobile IP: frequently asked questions

How often can I rotate a mobile IP?

New IP on demand through a rotation link or API call, or automatically on a timer you set (minimum 2 minutes). Each rotation pauses traffic while the modem reconnects, so very frequent rotation wastes time. It often makes sense to rotate between tasks rather than during them. Pick the longest interval your job allows, and use the API when you need control over the exact moment.

Does IP rotation cost extra?

No. Rotation is included in the port price: $3.75 for one day, $15 for seven days or $45 for 30 days, as of October 2026. Every port rotates by link or API, and 7-day and 30-day ports add a timer. Rotating mobile traffic per GB, from $1.50/GB, changes the IP per request instead.

Will I get the same IP twice?

Sometimes. A carrier assigns addresses from a shared pool, and the same IP can come back after a rotation. Compare the IP before and after each rotation, and rotate again if it did not change. Your modem serves only you, but the carrier's public IP may also serve phone users through CGNAT.

Can I rent a rotating mobile port without KYC?

Yes. StatesideIP rents dedicated T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon ports with no ID, no selfie and no documents. Account-number login; email is optional. Pay in BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, LTC or SOL. The rotation link works as soon as the port is delivered. Use stays subject to the Acceptable Use Policy.

Why did my connection drop during a rotation?

A rotation resets the modem's data connection, so open requests fail. Pause your traffic, call the rotation URL, wait until the IP check passes, then resume. With a timer, open requests can fail at the scheduled moment, so build retries into your code. If a port stays offline, email [email protected] with the port number and time.

Should I rotate often for social media management?

No. Agencies that manage client brands usually need one stable IP per client, following each platform's terms. For that job, rotate rarely, because a stable IP fits account work better than frequent changes. The Acceptable Use Policy does not allow rotation to evade bans or create bulk accounts. See social media management.
