What is ASN targeting, and why use it?

ASN targeting picks the internet provider behind your proxy IP. Every ISP announces its IP ranges under one or more autonomous system numbers (ASNs), such as AS7922 for Comcast. With asn-7922 in the username, StatesideIP selects an IP from Comcast's network when one is available.

Use it to see what a site shows to one ISP's subscribers, or to check ISP-specific offers and ads. It also helps you reproduce a customer's issue on their provider. ASN targeting is included at every tier on the pricing page.

Which US ISPs and AS numbers can I target?

The largest US home-internet providers announce their networks under the AS numbers below, per RIPEstat, as of October 2026.

Frontier (Verizon group since January 20, 2026)AS565011,451,648asn-5650

These counts measure each ISP's whole network, not the number of StatesideIP IPs. Other databases give different counts.

Charter also announces regional networks: AS11426, AS11351, AS12271 (New York City), AS7843, AS10796, AS33363 and AS20001. For carrier mobile IPs, rent a dedicated mobile port instead. For reference, the carriers announce AS21928 (T-Mobile), AS20057 (AT&T Mobility) and AS22394 and AS6167 (Verizon Cellco).

Which Canadian and Puerto Rican networks have their own ASNs?

Canada's main providers announce their own ASNs, per RIPEstat, as of October 2026. Rogers completed its purchase of Shaw on April 3, 2023, so check whether a Shaw target should use AS6327 or AS812.

How do I write an ASN target in the username?

Add asn- and the number, without the "AS" prefix. The full StatesideIP format is USERNAME-country-{cc}-state-{state}-city-{city}-zip-{zip}-asn-{asn}-session-{id}-ttl-{minutes}.

  • USERNAME-country-us-asn-7922 — any Comcast IP in the US.
  • USERNAME-country-us-state-ny-asn-12271 — Charter's New York City network.
  • USERNAME-country-us-state-ca-city-los_angeles-asn-7018 — AT&T in Los Angeles.
  • USERNAME-country-us-state-fl-asn-33363 — Charter's Florida network.
  • USERNAME-country-us-asn-20115-session-isp1-ttl-20 — one Spectrum IP kept for 20 minutes.

The Python example below checks the ASN of the IP you receive with RIPEstat's public API.

curl: a Comcast IP in Houston
# Comcast (AS7922) IP in Houston, Texas, rotating, over HTTP
curl -x http://gw.statesideip.com:7777 \
  -U "USERNAME-country-us-state-tx-city-houston-asn-7922:PASSWORD" \
  "https://api.ipify.org?format=json"
Python: get an IP by ASN and confirm it in RIPEstat
import requests

HOST = "gw.statesideip.com"
PORT = 7777
user = "USERNAME-country-us-asn-20115"  # Charter (Spectrum)
proxy = f"http://{user}:PASSWORD@{HOST}:{PORT}"

# 1) Exit IP through the proxy
ip = requests.get("https://api.ipify.org?format=json",
                  proxies={"http": proxy, "https": proxy}, timeout=30).json()["ip"]

# 2) ASN lookup in RIPEstat (direct, not through the proxy)
info = requests.get("https://stat.ripe.net/data/prefix-overview/data.json",
                    params={"resource": ip}, timeout=30).json()
print(ip, [a["asn"] for a in info["data"]["asns"]])
# Charter may show a regional ASN, such as 33363 or 12271

How do I find the ASN of an ISP?

Look the ISP up in a public routing database. RIPEstat's AS overview shows the holder name for any AS number. Hurricane Electric's BGP Toolkit (bgp.he.net) lists the prefixes each AS originates. To find the ASN of a known IP, query RIPEstat's prefix overview, as in the Python example. Large ISPs often use several ASNs, so check the regional ones too before you narrow a job to one number.

Which ASN should I use after recent ISP mergers?

Use the ASN that announces the IPs today; a merger changes the owner before it changes the routing. Three recent deals matter for US and Canadian targeting:

  • Verizon and Frontier: Verizon completed its purchase of Frontier on January 20, 2026. Frontier's AS5650 is now in Verizon's group.
  • AT&T and Quantum Fiber: Lumen sold 95% of Quantum Fiber to AT&T for $5.75 billion. The sale closed on February 2, 2026.
  • Rogers and Shaw: Rogers completed its purchase of Shaw on April 3, 2023, and Freedom Mobile went to Vidéotron.

Check the current holder in RIPEstat before you target an ASN.

ASN and ISP targeting: frequently asked questions

Does ASN targeting cost extra?

No. ASN targeting is included on every StatesideIP residential plan, from $1.50 for 1 GB to $0.52/GB at volume, as of October 2026. You pay per GB only. SOAX, by contrast, includes ASN targeting only on its Scale ($1,500 per month + VAT) and Enterprise ($3,000 per month + VAT) plans.

How many IPs does StatesideIP have on Comcast or Spectrum?

StatesideIP does not publish IP counts per ASN. The IPv4 numbers on this page come from Hurricane Electric's BGP Toolkit and measure each ISP's whole network. Availability per ASN changes through the day as home devices go online and offline. Test your target ASN with the 1 GB plan before buying volume.

What is the difference between ASN and ISP targeting?

In practice they are the same: an ASN is the network number an ISP uses to announce its IP ranges. One ISP can have several ASNs, as Charter does with AS20115 and regional ASNs such as AS12271 in New York City. Targeting by ASN is more exact than a brand name, because it matches routing data.

Can I target mobile carrier ASNs with residential proxies?

Use a dedicated mobile port for carrier IPs. StatesideIP residential ASN targeting is meant for home-internet networks such as Comcast or Cox. For T-Mobile (AS21928), AT&T Mobility (AS20057) or Verizon Cellco (AS22394, AS6167), rent a mobile port from $3.75/day, as of October 2026.

Can I combine ASN with state, city or ZIP?

Yes. The username takes all segments together, such as USERNAME-country-us-state-ca-city-los_angeles-asn-7018 for AT&T in Los Angeles. Each extra filter shrinks the set of matching IPs. If requests fail, drop the ZIP or city first and keep the ASN. See ZIP code targeting for city and ZIP syntax.

Can I buy ASN-targeted proxies without KYC?

Yes. StatesideIP, a no-KYC US residential and mobile proxy provider, sells ASN-targeted residential traffic with no ID, no selfie and no documents. Pay in BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, LTC or SOL. Credentials appear once the payment confirms, and ASN targeting works from the first request.

Why does a lookup show a different ASN than the one I targeted?

Some ISPs announce related ranges under several ASNs, and lookup tools may show a parent or regional number. Charter, for example, uses AS20115 and regional ASNs such as AS33363 in Florida. Mergers add confusion: Frontier's AS5650 is now in Verizon's group. Check the holder name in RIPEstat; if it is another company, rotate and tell support.

Is ASN targeting useful for ad verification?

Yes. Some offers, ads and landing pages depend on the visitor's ISP, such as broadband upgrade offers. With ASN targeting, you can view a page as a Comcast, Spectrum or AT&T home user in a chosen state. Combine it with city targeting for local checks. See ad verification.
